#MbaliyezweThreaductions

Mbaliyezwe Ndlela posted her first Twitter thread (@mbali_ndlela) in late November 2017, as a once off random thread, based on a trending topic at the time. She was not prepared for the positive feedback and hype that it received. Soon, one thread became two then three then five, and people on Twitter started asking for more threads until they dubbed her, 'The Queen of Threads'. She continued writing threads into 2018 and somewhere along the line ended up calling them #MbaliyezweThreaductions, as she modelled them after TV "productions", complete with ad breaks - which nobody had done before on Twitter. The threads kept growing and trending, to the point that brands started noticing her writing skills and creativity, and that started opening doors for her for social media campaigns and promos. Brands were not the only ones following Mbaliyezwe's progress, as local media started inviting her for interviews, including uKhozi FM and SABC 3's Trending SA - to talk about her unique threads and online content - and at some point the threads were even discussed on news channel, eNCA, for being a creative way to share social media news.
